Frequently Asked Questions
Who works with WheelHouse?
WheelHouse is a good fit for homeowners who want to hand off the details of home maintenance—whether it’s hard to keep track of everything or they simply don’t have the time (or interest!) to manage it all. Our clients value proactive maintenance because it extends the life of everything from roofing to mechanical systems and helps prevent small issues from becoming costly repairs.
We also work with clients who own multiple residences and need a trusted, local partner while they’re away.
Why does building science matter?
Your home isn’t a collection of separate parts—it’s a living system. A building science–based approach considers how HVAC, ventilation, moisture control, and materials all work together. When maintained with the whole system in mind, your home runs more efficiently, feels more comfortable, and supports healthier air quality.
At WheelHouse, we understand how one change can affect the entire system. Your Property Manager will help you make informed decisions about upgrades and maintenance so every dollar spent enhances both comfort and durability.
How do I work with my property manager?
Trust and communication are at the heart of our relationship. You’ll hear from your Property Manager regularly and always have someone to call when something comes up.
Dryer making a strange sound? Just call or email your Property Manager and we’ll send the right specialist.
For regular maintenance, you’ll receive a monthly email outlining what’s scheduled and when.
Can’t be home for a service visit? No problem—your Property Manager can be there on your behalf.
Why is WheelHouse different than the others?
We’re not a construction company that happens to offer property management — property management is our core business. Our focus is on protecting your home, not profiting from repairs or renovations.
No conflicts of interest: We don’t mark up vendor invoices or route work through in-house contractors. You pay direct pricing—directly to trusted, independent service providers.
Locally owned and operated: As a family-run business based in New Canaan, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of professionalism and accountability.
How do we start to work together?
The first thing we do after a quick intro call is walk through your home, talk about everything that works, anything that doesn’t and what your plans are for the future. The WheelHouse team will compile a report and start to tackle the list for you as well as identify your systems and compile a comprehensive maintenance plan.
